The Breffni 3 Province Challenge: Arva Co. Cavan
The Breffni 3 Province Challenge will be held on Saturday 30th July 2022 We have a Half Marathon, 10K and 5K Fun Runs as well as a 30k & 100k cycle. The Half Marathon & 10K are chip timed. This is the 21st year that an event has been organised by the Community of Arva with the aim of raising funds towards Cancer Care, Cure & Research. These events will raise much needed funds for St Luke's Oncology Trust, Breast Cancer Research Ireland. and Cavan/Monaghan Cancer Homecare Association. Tel 086 084 8633 for your sponsorship cards! Whether you run at top speed or stagger to the finish line, you get a medal, t-shirt & certificate. Then, the celebrations start, with the Homecoming On The Market Square: there’s a barbecue, music, street entertainment and family fun, with M.C. Gerry Brady jovially welcoming the participants with his unique brand of humour and warmth. Community effort: The community of Arva have been organising a cancer fundraiser for the past 18 years, with the event now known as The Breffni 3 Province Challenge. The fundraiser, whose main sponsors are Brady’s Volkswagen garage in Arva, Gerry Ellis & Sons’ Fresh Today, & Breffni Arms Hotel has grown ten-fold since the inaugural cycle over two decades ago, with word of it spreading throughout the country and further afield. “Twenty-five counties in Ireland have be represented over the years and last year there were competitors from the UK,” says Philip Brady, one of the organisers. “Numbers are steadily increasing |
